What to Expect from Your First Muay Thai Session

Before You Arrive

First off — you don't need any experience. Most people who come train with me have never thrown a punch in their life. That's fine. We start where you are.

What you should bring:
- **Comfortable clothes** — Shorts and a t-shirt work fine.
- **Water** — It gets hot. Bring plenty.
- **Willingness to learn** — That's it.

I provide wraps, gloves, and pads. Don't worry about gear.

The Session Structure

A typical private session goes something like this:

Warm-Up (10-15 minutes) Movement drills, light shadow boxing, getting your body ready. We'll work on stance and basic footwork. Nothing crazy — just building good habits from the start.

Technique (30-40 minutes) This is the meat of it. We might work on: - Basic punches (jab, cross, hook) - Kicks (low kick, body kick, teep) - Defence (blocking, checking, moving your head) - Combinations — putting it together

I adapt to what you need. If something's clicking, we build on it. If something needs work, we drill it.

Padwork (15-20 minutes) This is where it comes together. I hold pads, call combinations, and you throw. Padwork develops timing, power, and cardio all at once. It's also the most fun part for most people.

Cool Down We stretch, chat about what we covered, and I'll give you a few things to think about for next time.

Common First-Session Worries

**"I'm not fit enough."** We go at your pace. Sessions usually run 60-90 minutes, and there are plenty of natural breaks.

**"I'll look stupid."** Everyone starts somewhere. I've trained complete beginners and fighters — same approach. No judgement.

**"What if I can't do something?"** Then we work on it. That's the point.

After the Session

You'll probably be sore the next day — muscles you didn't know you had. Normal. Drink water, stretch, and give your body time to recover. Most people book their second session pretty quickly once they get a taste of it.
